September 20, 2010Bilfinger Berger completes first tunnel section of Düsseldorf urban rail line Bilfinger Berger has completed the first phase of construction for the new Düsseldorf urban rail line one month ahead of schedule. The tunnel boring machine finished the 1.3-kilometer section between Elisabethstrasse and Kasernenstrasse in less than seven months. The tunnel lining made up of around 870 segment rings was also installed during the course of the tunneling work. August 24, 2010Bilfinger Berger building test tunnels for the automotive industry In rapid succession, Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services has taken on three projects for the construction of climatic wind tunnels in the automotive industry, one of which is the world’s largest. The orders have a total volume of €175 million, of which €80 million is accounted for by Bilfinger Berger. August 19, 2010A model for success in the education sector – Bilfinger Berger wins new orders The German cities of Halle and Erfurt have turned to public private partnerships to update their infrastructure: Bilfinger Berger has been commissioned by the city of Halle to modernize and expand two schools and an after-school care center. In the past two years, the Company has already redeveloped or built nine schools for the city council. Erfurt has awarded Bilfinger Berger the contract for the demolition and construction of a sports facility with a capacity for 1,500 spectators. Once completed, the Group will operate both projects over a period of 20 and 25 years respectively. Investment volume amounts to €20 million. August 12, 2010Interim Report Q2 2010 Bilfinger Berger substantially improved its profitability in the first half of 2010. While output volume, orders received and order backlog remained stable, EBIT and earnings after taxes from continuing operations more than doubled. Net profit was also much higher than in the prior-year period. August 11, 2010Earnings for the first half of 2010 better than expectedBilfinger Berger’s earnings in the first half of 2010 surpass current market expectations. With output volume unchanged at €3.8 billion, EBIT reached €135 million (H1 2009: €64 million) and net profit amounted to €118 million (H1 2009: €65 million). All segments contributed to the significant increase in earnings. August 5, 2010Bilfinger Berger wins major orders in the energy industryBilfinger Berger has won two major energy sector orders with a volume of approximately €60 million. In Poland, service contracts at five thermal power stations have been extended while in Austria the Company will provide highly specialized services for a hydroelectric power plant.
